Cutting/Serving Board Care & Preservation

Each wooden cutting board is crafted as both a functional tool and a lasting design object. With proper care, it will develop a rich patina and serve beautifully for years to come.

Everyday Care

Clean by hand using warm water and a gentle dish soap. Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge, rinse, and dry immediately. Stand the board upright to allow airflow on all sides.

Never place your board in the dishwasher or leave it submerged in water. Excess moisture and heat can compromise the integrity of the wood.

Natural Refresh & Deodorizing

To revive the surface or remove lingering aromas, lightly sprinkle coarse salt or baking soda across the board. Using half a lemon, gently scrub with the grain. Rinse briefly and dry thoroughly.

This simple ritual restores freshness while honoring the natural material.

Conditioning the Wood

Regular conditioning protects the board and enhances its natural beauty.

Apply our Board Balm or food safe mineral oil to all surfaces, including the edges. Allow the wax to absorb for several hours or overnight, then wipe away any excess.

Condition every few weeks with regular use, or whenever the wood appears dry.

What to Avoid

  • Dishwashers or prolonged soaking

  • Harsh cleaners or chemicals

  • Standing water or damp storage

  • Excessive heat or direct sunlight

Wear & Patina

Subtle knife marks and tonal shifts are expected and celebrated—evidence of a piece in use. Over time, your board will develop a patina unique to your kitchen and your rituals.

Storage

Store in a dry, well-ventilated space. When not in use, standing the board on its edge helps maintain balance and longevity.

Crafted to Last

Wood is a natural material that evolves with care and time. Thoughtful maintenance preserves both performance and character, ensuring your cutting board remains as beautiful as it is functional.
